Attendance is checked daily. Please call or email summeracademy@ssfs.org if your child is unable to attend the academic program.
If SSFS closes because of safety concerns, inclement weather or other emergencies, notification will be made on the SSFS website. Fees are not refundable in such circumstances. When a severe weather alert is issued, all staff and students will remain indoors until the threat has passed. Carpool and bus transportation are halted. We appreciate your patience during these alerts.
A selection of our courses are eligible for credit. Please refer to the specific course for details. Once you have registered for one of these courses, you will receive a Course Credit Approval Form attached to your confirmation email. The form must be completed, signed by a school official, and returned to SSFS prior to the start of the course, in order to earn credit. If this form is not submitted, course credit cannot be guaranteed.
Yes, SSFS will be closed on Monday, July 4th.
Please see our Transportation section for more information about drop-off and pickup.
Classes begin at approximately 08:30 a.m. and dismiss at 12:00 p.m. Some classes dismiss at 11:30; please check your individual class to confirm the time. Morning drop-off time is from 08:10-08:30. Afternoon pick-up time is from 12:30-12:50. Some classes that dismiss at 11:30 will have a pick-up time at 11:30-11:50.
The registration fee is $400/class, and due at the time of registration. The registration fee is applied to the tuition fee. Tuition is listed alongside each program. To secure the applicant’s space, all tuition balances are due on or before June 1st. Students who are registering after June 1st must submit payment in full.
You will receive an email confirmation after you submit your registration online. This confirmation will contain program information for your registered program and will have an electronic financial statement attached.
Commitments to faculty and staff are made in advance of the summer session. They are based on anticipated student enrollment and are not subject to change. Students who withdraw on June 1st or after, for whatever reason, will receive no refund on fees paid. Students who withdraw on May 31st or prior, will be refunded the cost of the tuition minus the registration fee. The $400 registration fee is non-refundable.
If students are picked up beyond the standard pick-up times, parents will be assessed a late fee of a dollar a minute. For example, if class dismisses at 12:30, students must be picked up between 12:30-12:50. If a student is picked up at 12:55, a $5 late fee will be assessed.
Excessive or unexcused absences or lateness impair the ability of students to succeed academically. Consequently, the number of unexcused absences are limited to one day. Absences exceeding one day must be accompanied by doctor’s note. Excessive absence or lateness could lead to a loss of credit and failure. Two absences will result in a conference with the student, student’s parents or guardian, teacher and director of the summer academy. A total of four absences will result in parent notification, and a loss of credit and a failing grade pending a review by the summer academy director, department head and teacher. Prior to this review, the student should submit in writing to the summer academy director any pertinent reasons for the committee to approve the reinstatement of credit. If a student is more than 20 minutes late to class, the student will be considered absent.
